Should we say that Windows Phone 7 is a big failure?

Everywhere we look around the web we will find that Microsoft sold merely 40,000 Windows Phone 7 devices on launch day Monday. And this compared to Apple iPhone is a pittance, which sells millions of devices on their launch day.

One problem with this information is that it comes from one report from TheStreet that quotes an unnamed “market research source”. As we know all those research firms like to come up with stories about big firms like Microsoft, because in this way they will be known to the public.

This same author is known to get many big stories wrong. One example would be the one when somebody said that Palm Pre would never land at Verizon and this in fact happened. Sensational stories from unknown sources always attracted this author, which almost all turn out to be wrong.

Despite the fact that they sold only 40.000 devices (if that's true) they are already launching an update on January 2011 and if we look at the fact that more and more smartphones will support Windows Mobile 7, we should think again before making any assumptions.  Dell for example is launching a few devices which will support Windows Mobile 7, and HTC will also launch WM7 devices, and this should make us think, is WM7 a failure? Or they are just paying Dell, HTC, Samsung, etc lots of money to promote their OS.

Google’s Android also got off to a lacklustre start, but now as we can see, they are doing a pretty god job, because they are now on top of the charts in the US and they have strong ambitions to take down Symbian (we will see about MeeGo).

It will be hard for Microsoft; the platform is good but not that mature as iOS, Android, Blackberry or even webOS, but this has to be reviewed once the update will come out in January.

My personal opinion is that Microsoft has to do more work to finish their OS, I like the concept, all the ideas but they still have to work on their OS, they should think about small stuff like wireless indicator and so on.

Lenovo IdeaPad U260

It has 12.5-inch ............ (first thing that comes through your mind is a netbook, I know that is was I had in mind when I first set my eyes on the picture, but in fact it's a) notebook. Lenovo want's to strike back with a very ultra light and portable notebook, the new IdeaPad is also in the same group as MacBook Air. I know there is a small competition against them at the moment, read more if you want to know why I think that.

Bendy Super-AMOLED Samsung screen

If you want a Smartphone that you can wrap around your wrist then Samsung is the right manufacturer for you, because Samsung is developing bendy Super-AMOLED screens.

Bendy or morphing, depending what name you want to give it, Samsung wants to bring to the market something new. And now you will say that flexible displays have been done before, like E Ink paper by Sony and rollable OLED ones, but nobody tried to come up with Super-AMOLED ones, and this is very big news.

Samsung wants to make the Super-AMOLED display available in 800x480 pixel resolution that can be rolled down to a radius of 1cm.

I really want to see how they will manage to do that and how the device will really look. What do you think? Will Samsung launch their Bendy Super-AMOLED screen? Or this is just another rumour that won’t have a launch date?

Dell

Yep Dell again.

I have nothing special with Dell if you were wondering, but I searched about Dell products this past few days. To be honest not to much info, nada, niet, nothing.

Maybe my research was not good enough but I still managed to get something out from some of my sources. I found it interesting and I decided to write something about it. Still rumours though but looks like future projects. Dell is coming in to market really strong now in mobile phones, if you check our forum later you will see some new Dell phones which are likely to come up, my friend is still working on that.

Dell “Opus One” could be the Successor of Dell Streak

Dell “Opus One” could be the Successor of Dell Streak

Accordingly to sreaksmart, Dell “Opus One” could be the next smartphone from Dell. The device will be Android based and it’s expected to sport the new Android 3.0 OS. For the time being, the existence of this tablet PC is only a rumour, but the guys over at streaksmart suggest that the chances for it to prove really are high.

We also have some specifications for the Dell “Opus One”; it appears that Dell would plan on making the device with a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor inside, a Qualcomm second-generation Snapdragon series. Motorola Droid 2 has already used the 1.2 GHz processor, so Dell will probably use the same processor with the next generation of Streak.

But we should not consider that “Optus One” will be the predecessor of Streak, in fact Dell is building a

Motorola Tablet

Like Apple everybody nowadays is launching a tablet and this is exactly what Motorola is doing. Early next year, sometime around February, they will launch their own tablet.
Motorola is working on a tablet that is said to have similar dimensions as the Apples iPad.

Motorola’s Co-Chief Executive Sanja Jha said: “We want to make sure that any tablet we deliver is competitive in the marketplace. We will only deliver that when that occurs. Hopefully that’s early next year.”
As we can see from their announcements, it looks like both Motorola and HTC are waiting for the release of the Android 3.0 aka Gingerbread or Google Chrome. We also think that HTC and Motorola are waiting for the next generation of dual-core processors to be tested and ready to work on their tablets.

Motorola tablet is also known as the XT701 and it looks like the tablet will sport a 3.7” touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flas, AGPS, FM-radio, WiFi and Bluetooth and it can store up to 32GB of data (via MicroSD card).

With all these new tablets coming early 2011 I am looking forward to see what HTC has to bring on the market.

What new features do you think that HTC will bring on their devices? And what features do you aspect from HTC? Leave comments.

Dell shows up their new XPS

Yes it's true, you're not seeing double. Dell has come back from inactivity with the XPS series, they weren't in activity just sat a bit on the bench.  to be honest Dell XPS never really went away they produced the Studio XPS and Adamo XPS. The XPS was put aside since they bought Alienware, they came up with new products but not so often and they weren't really good in configurations, because they wanted the Alienware to be the best in gaming so the company's refocusing its efforts and bringing back the tried and true multimedia laptop brand

At first the new Dell XPS appeared in US only and they didn't say when they are going to launch it in the UK, but after a few weeks they made that step as well. So far they only  brought the 15" and 17" versions. Here is the US link and the UK link

Very Funny? Isn't it?

iPhone5 to be released in January 2011 ???

We all know that iPhone is the most successful product from Apple, but with their last iPhone4 they had a lot of reported problem about the antenna, and that almost everyone loose signal whey they try to call someone. That it’s way they decided to launch the new iPhone5 earlier that the normal launch date, and this could be on January on their first KeyNote.

A lot say that iPhone5 will be the same as iPhone4 but with the antenna fixed, but this is very hard to believe and I would expect something big from them. It will also be expected that the new iPhone5 will run the new version of Apple's iOS.

Here is a leaked photo of the new iPhone5.

Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone Android

Engadget claimed to received a leaked snapshot of the upcoming handset, Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone.
It is said that is will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and sport some really sophisticated hardware. This phone will be targeted solely at gamers.
The picture I have is from Engadget site, and they say that this is the photo of the upcoming handset, Sony Ericsson Playstation Phone. The phone will sport a 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor, a512MB RAM, a 1GB ROM and support for microSD based storage expansion, a multitouch pad on the lower half of the slider for the best gaming experience. The touchscreen will be between 3.7” and 4.1”.

New Samsung Galaxy S2 i9200

Samsung Galaxy S2 i9200
Yes, I know, it looks like rumours won’t stop coming; but we have info about the new Samsung Galaxy S2 i9200.

According to the rumours we’ve heard the Samsung Galaxy S2 i9200 is going to be equipped with 2GHz processor. It will be launched in 2011 but we don’t know the dates yet. As you can see from the pictures, the device is very nice but the main issue is the hardware bit.

Samsung Galaxy S2 i9200 is likely to feature 4.3 inch Super AMOLED 2 touchscreen with 1280x720 resolution. It’s 1GB RAM will accompany 4GB of ROM and 32GB of build-in flash memory. The camera is going to sport good 8 MPs and is expected to support HD video recording of at least 720p. It will incorporate Bluetooth and WiFi, and just like Apple iPhone 4, Galaxy will also sport an accelerometer with Gyroscope.

The biggest rumour is that Samsung Galaxy S2 i9200 is likely to run Google 3.0 OS, which itself is in the “rumour stage”, but even that we heard that the new Samsung Galaxy S2 i9200 will run on the new Google 3.0 OS; Google officials chose to quip that “rumours are not official announcements.”

Anyway, I am looking forward to 2011 :D

New BlackBerry Storm 3

It’s not yet to be announced officially but I have found a photo of the new BlackBerry Storm 3 together with some detailed specs of the device.

As we can see from the picture it looks similar to HTC, Samsung and Iphone 4G but it has it’s unique features like the BlackBerry home button and BlackBerry logo at the top of the phone.

It will be available on sale early in 2011 and may support 4G networks.
