Lenovo IdeaPad U260
It has 12.5-inch ............ (first thing that comes through your mind is a netbook, I know that is was I had in mind when I first set my eyes on the picture, but in fact it's a) notebook. Lenovo want's to strike back with a very ultra light and portable notebook, the new IdeaPad is also in the same group as MacBook Air. I know there is a small competition against them at the moment, read more if you want to know why I think that.
As I said above the Lenovo is a good competitor to Apple. There is quite a difference between them, configuration, design two different things but at the same time very similar.
DESIGN:
It has 18mm across it's body (Apples's changes from a side to the other), as I've seen so far it has only two colours mocha brown and clementine orange (pictures somewhere below with the colours). It has 1.4 kilograms (11-inch Air has 1.06kg and 13-inch Air 1.32kg). It's build from a one-piece magnesium-aluminium frame (just like Apple's uni-body). It has 2-usb ports, bluetooth, VGA and HDMI ports, audio in/out and ethernet (Apple has the same, but instead of VGA and HDMI they have a Mini DisplayPort).
DISPLAY:
It has 12.5-inch HD-resolution display with anti-glare finish (Apple 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch, both high-resolution LED-backlit glossy widescreen display) and its capable do display 1366x768 resolution (same by Apple).
CONFIGURATION:
Under the hood Lenovo looks great it has an option of not one but two Intel processor one from the i3 family i3-380um and one form the i5 family i5-470um (Apple is good with their core2duo processors).I am not certain with how much memory comes the Lenovo but I know that supports up to 4gb (same as Apple), I think that it will come with a standard 2gb and is you personalize it you can get the 4gb maximum available. Hard-drive is up to 320gb not certain but I think its solid state drive, if not it would be a very big waste (Apple on the 11-inch has 64gb and 128gb, on the 13-inch 128gb and 256gb). (after a little more research I found that they will put a 360gb hard drive, yep not solid state drive and to make things a little better it come with a minimun 4gb of ram to offset any difference in the storage speed). Lenovo has an Intel HD graphics (Apple has the NVIDIA GeForce 320M).
BATTERY:
Lenovo comes with a 4-cell battery which they say that is going to last up to 4 hours (Apple has up to 5 hours on the 11-inch and 7 hours on the 13-inch).
OTHER FEATURES:
It has a multi-touch with scroll function (Apple's multi-touch track-pad is way better), Dolby Advanced Audio system with stereo speakers (Apple has only stereo speakers) and spill resistant keyboard (I think Apple has this one out)
This are some of the info I found, Lenovo says its “Enhanced Experience for Windows 7″ delivers speedy boot-up and shutdown times, but it will be interesting to see how the U260 matches up to the Air’s performance. It will only be in USA and you will be able to buy it at around 900 us dollars, it's release date will be 15th of November, which is in two days, so If you are in USA go check it yourself at the nearest Lenovo shop and then reply to us with your impression about it.
It would be nice for them to show up in Europe with this product.
Nice writing about the Lenovo here, I guess that's what I have to say, except one more thing,
Have a good one and seeya soon
